Benfica president Luís Filipe Vieira has claimed club captain Luisão wants to finish his career with the Portuguese outfit, therefore refuting rumours he is on the verge of a move to Juventus.

The Brazilian defender has been linked with a move to the Italian side over the past few days and was said to have agreed personal terms with the Serie A side yesterday.

The sticking point in the transfer was allegedly the transfer fee Benfica wanted for the 33-year-old.

However, Vieira has insisted rumours linking Luisão to Juventus are unture when speaking to Benfica TV.

Forza Italian Football quoted the Benfica president, he said: “Luisão to Juventus? It is not true.

“If they want to discuss it with us, they will.

“Luisão has already said he wants to end his career with us.”

An interesting twist on the Luisão to Juventus saga and it seems there will be plenty more developments in this transfer before the window slams shut at the end of the month.
