Robinho inspires Santos to Copa do Brasil victory over LondrinaCan Robinho bring more success to Santos? -
Robinho inspired Santos to victory in the Copa do Brasil last night with a stunning display where he scored his first goal since rejoining the club on loan from AC Milan.
The 30-year-old returned to his former club recently on a 12-month loan deal and scored his first goal on Thursday night as they defeated Londrina 2-0.
The two-goal victory was enough to see Santos progress 3-2 on aggregate and they are now into the round of 16 and among the favourites to win the competition.
Robinho opened the scoring after 53 minutes dribbling past two defenders before firing into the top corner.
The former Real Madrid man ran off in ecstasy afterwards and kissed the Santos shirt before he played a vital part in the decisive second goal.
The Brazil international chased after a long ball, fooled a Londrina defender inside the box before laying the ball on a plate for Rildo to slot into the net with just two minutes of normal time remaining.
Santos were able to see out the final few minutes of the match and progress with Robinho already proving his worth in just his second game since returning to the club.
