Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Douglas Costa has been advised by current head coach Mircea Lucescu to remain at the club for another year.

The Brazilian has been linked with numerous clubs over the past few weeks with the likes of Premier League side Arsenal and Serie A outfit AC Milan reportedly interested.

However, Lucescu has told Gazzetta dello Sport that both Costa and fellow Brazilian Alex Teixeira should stay with Shakhtar for one more season.

Football Italia quoted Lucescu, he said: “Take another year of the Champions League with us and you will be perfect.

“I am only proud if one of my players was to go to a big club. But I want a deal to be done in the right way, where the team is concerned.”

The Shakhtar boss concluded by insisting Costa is better than new Real Madrid signing James Rodríguez.

“For me, he is stronger than James Rodriguez,” Lucescu added.
