Fluminense were stunned by Serie B outfit América RN last night as they conceded four second half goals to crash out of the Copa do Brasil.

Sitting fourth in Serie A, Flu were expected to see off América with ease but they were shocked 5-2 at Maracanã.

The hosts went behind after 18 minutes as Marcelinho opened the scoring but they turned it around before the half time whistle.

Former national team striker Fred scored on his 200th start for the club after 32 minutes before Cícero put them ahead eight minutes before the break.

However, after half time the Brazilian giants were left shell shocked by a superb attacking display from América.

Max equalised shortly into the second period before Alfredo scored twice inside eight minutes to make it 4-2.

Rodrigo Pimpão added a fifth in the 90th minute to seal Fluminense’s elimination and make it a bad night for the giants of Brazilian football with Internacional and São Paulo also suffering cup shocks.
