Michel Bastos has completed his transfer to Sao Paulo on an 18 month deal, following his release by Dubai-based outfit Al Ain.

The Brazil international, 31, is to be presented to the media at some point today, and joins an ever-impressive list of names on the books of Tricolor.

They now boast a squad that contains the likes of Kaka, Luis Fabiano, Paulo Henrique Ganso, Alan Kardec and young star Ademilson, as well as Uruguayan World Cup defender Alvaro Pereira and former Arsenal midfielder Denilson.

Former Lyon, Schalke and Roma wing back Bastos will already know many of his new teammates and his agent, Emmanuel de Kervoche, told reporters: “He knows Kaka well and they have spoken. Kaka supported his arrival.”

“There was another team interested in his services, but Kaka’s support was influential.”

Bastos could be in line to make his debut in this weekend’s away fixture at Palmeiras, as his new team sit fifth in the Serie A championship.
