Brazil international Maicon will be remaining with Roma for the 2014/15 season after the two clubs decided the defender would stay with the Italian club.

Rumours have been rife in recent weeks that the former Manchester City right-back was in the middle of a contract dispute with the Rome side.

However, the 33-year-old has seemingly rubbished those claims by returned to training this week and he has also held brief talks with Roma’s sports chief Walter Sabatini, according to Tribal Football.

Forza Italian Football report similar news and Sky Sport Italia believe talks over a new contract will now take place in September, with both Roma and Maicon not considering them talks an urgent issue at the moment.

The right-back impressed last year, helping the Giallorossi achieve a Champions League place, and can now look forward to elite level European football once again this season.
