Brazil’s under-20 team managed a draw against their Qatari counterparts in the COTIF L’Alcudia tournament in Valencia last night, with Santos youngster Gabriel Barbosa grabbing the South Americans’ goal.

The prestigious youth competition is held in the Spanish city every year and was won by Spain last time out, with Argentina coming in as runners-up. It has been held since 1984 and was entirley a club tournament in the early days.

The youth championships are being used by head coach Alexandre Gallo as part of his preparation for the 2016 Olympic programme, which he will head up as manager of both the under-17 and under-20 teams.

In the past, such luminaries as Raul, Alexis Sanchez and Isco have used the tounament to launch their careers.
