Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc admitted the injury to Thiago Silva marred his side’s pre-season friendly victory over Napoli on Monday night.

The French side were 2-1 winners against the Naples outfit but the Brazil and PSG captain suffered a muscular injury after 14 minutes to put a dampener on the game.

Goal.com quoted Blanc after the game, he said: “We will relish the victory because, even though it was a friendly game, we wanted to win.

“The shadow over the evening, though, is, of course, the injury to Thiago Silva.”

Initial reports suggest Silva suffered a hamstring injury and may be ruled out for six-weeks.

As Blanc alluded too, though, until those reports are confirmed following an examination, they can’t know too much.

The PSG manager added: “For now, we just know that he has a muscular problem – that much is obvious. The severity of the injury will be established after examinations.

“This sort of thing happens. He will be given the best care because we will need him.”
