David Luiz tasted victory in his first outing for new club PSG after the French champions beat Napoli 2-1 in a club friendly in the Stadio San Paulo yesterday evening.

The Parisiens scored two second half goals, courtesy of Javier Pastore and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but will be concerned by the fact that captain Thiago Silva went off injured after 14 minutes, the Brazil centre back seemingly damaging his hamstring.

In the aftermath of the game, new signing Luiz told reporters: “It was a difficult match for me, because I have a lack of training.”

“This is a new cycle in my life and I am very happy. It’s started with a win, which is good; I’m very happy to be here.”

With Thiago Silva replaced by countryman Marquinhos in the first half, coach Laurent Blanc could yet pair the youngster alongside Luiz for PSG’s second league game of the season against Bastia this coming Saturday.
