Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has suggested that his young Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho has the ability to get even stronger this season, as the English club prepare to compete in the Champions League for the first time in five years.

In a pre season press conference, the Reds boss said: “He’s so gifted- his ability is magical and the weight of his pass is phenomenal.”

“He’s got the opportunity to show he’s a top-level player in the Champions League and he’ll do that. Over the next four to five years, he’ll be a big talent in world football for Brazil and Liverpool. We’re lucky to have him.”

Coutinho joined the Anfield side from Italians Inter Milan in January of last year and has gone on to make 50 appearances in all competitions for them, scoring eight goals into the bargain.
