Santos manager Oswaldo de Oliveira praised the debut of Robinho in the club’s defeat to Corinthians last night, labelling the Brazilian forward “contagious” in the what he offers those around him.

After the match, which Santos lost 1-0 courtesy of an 84th minute goal by defender Gil, Oliveira told reporters: “Robinho can change the atmosphere of the team. He’s not a psychologist or a philospher, but contagious, and I think the same happened with Neymar.”

“People talk a lot of these guys as astral. Imagine when they were both here. It’s pretty cool.”

Santos’ defeat to Corinthians sees them stay in ninth place in the Brasileirao after 14 games, whilst the victors move up to third, and only three points away from pace setters and defending champions Cruzeiro.
