Alexandre Gallo: Brazil are still the "best in the world in terms of technical ability"
Seleção Under-20 Head Coach Alexandre Gallo insists Brazil still produce the best technical players.
The tactician, who will lead his country at the 2016 Olympic Games, believes however that Brazilian players must work harder and need to evolve to keep pace with the other major nations.
“The Brazilian player hasn’t changed,” he told FIFA.com. “At the World Cup it was our opponents who had evolved. That’s what’s different now. In the past we were three or four steps ahead. Today, I still think that we’re the best in the world in terms of technical ability.
“You can see that from the number of players that come out of Brazil every year. But the work that our opponents have put in and the natural evolution of football – tighter spaces and other factors – undoubtedly affected us. For example, in the World Cup [Lucas] Biglia of Argentina ran over 15km in one match.”
