Corinthians head coach Mano Menezes has played down the significance of Robinho’s return to Santos, ahead of the fixture between the two teams this coming Saturday at Vila Belmiro.

Former Brazil boss Menezes told reporters ahead of the game that team spirit is the order of the day and will ultimately be more important than individual flair when the game kicks off.

“Robinho is, in fact, an attraction, but we don’t know who will decide the game between Corinthians and Santos. To the dismay of analysts, we will engage the two best defences in the league.”

The pair have only conceded 13 goals in total in a combined 26 matches so far, with neither side seeing their ‘Goals Against’ column into double figures as yet.

Menezes continued: “Despair, because it could finish 0-0. We can no longer think individually, we have just seen a World Cup in which the collective part excelled.”

Visitors Corinthians are currently in fourth place in the Brasileirao standings, four points ahead of their opponents, who sit in sixth.
