Despite his disappointment in not being included in the Brazil squad for their own World Cup, the 28-year-old has said that former boss Luiz Felipe Scolari deserves people’s respect.
Filipe Luis has made four appearances for the national side but narrowly missed out on a call-up for this year’s tournament.
“I was annoyed with Felipão’s decision. I’d had a great season and I think I deserved to be called-up. It wasn’t just me; there were other positions that were also lacking a bit as well.
“But it’s easy to talk about him now. The truth is that he did an excellent job and, with the resources he had, put a team of warriors together.
“The Brazilian people should be grateful to him, also because of what he did in 2002. He’s a world champion and deserves respect,” completed the left-back.
