Santos have confirmed the signing of AC Milan forward Robinho on a loan arrangement until June 30 of next year, marking a return for the Brazil striker to the team where it first started.
Robinho, 30, was largely expected to leave the San Siro this summer, and has opted for a move home to Vila Belmiro after almost a decade in Europe.
The 92-times capped player told the club’s official website: “Santos is my home. It’s a place in which I feel really good. I hope to repay all of the fans’ affection on the field.”
A player for whom consistency has always been a struggle, the undoubtedly talented Robinho joined Real Madrid in 2005, winning two league titles before a move to Manchester City three years later.
Without a trophy at the English club, he moved back on loan to Santos for six months prior to a big money move to AC Milan, where he has gone on to land another league championship.
Despite a more productive season last time out, new Milan boss Pippo Inzaghi has decided to go without Robinho for his first campaign as a top-flight manager.
