Former Germany international Lars Ricken has looked back philosophically on his country’s 2-0 defeat to Brazil in the 2002 World Cup Final.
The midfielder was on the bench for the game in Yokohama and believes that the team that lost then cannot be compared to the Germany side that won the World Cup this summer.
“Back then we also had a completely different team when it came to footballing quality – they’re worlds apart – so in that respect I’m pleased with the performances I put in,” he said, as reported by FIFA.com.
“It’s all good; at the end of the day I played as many internationals as I deserved.”
