Palmeiras striker Henrique has echoed the sentiments of head coach Ricardo Gareca and teammate Lucio by insisting that the club are close to winning football matches, if they keep working hard and concentrate a little harder.

The forward was speaking in the aftermath of Palmeiras’ 1-1 draw with Bahia, a game which left them without a league win since the last week of May.

“Once again we falter in the game,” Henrique said, “I was happy to be back scoring, but then we conceded the equaliser.”

“Now we need to put our heads together and work hard to get out of this situation.”

On the prospect of some respite by virtue of a Copa do Brasil game in midweek against Avai, Henrique continued: “On Wednesday we have an important game for the Copa. We achieved a major advantage in the first leg (winning 2-0 away), but we need to get focused.

Palmeiras then go on to face Atletico Mineiro in Belo Horizonte on league duty this coming Sunday.
