Palmeiras head coach Ricardo Gareca has suggested that his side are suffering from a lack of confidence after a seventh league fixture without a win following their draw with Bahia last night.
Gareca told reporters after the game: “Lack of confidence. It may be that the team needs confidence. But I think the team will get that confidence to win again.”
Obviously not expecting such a struggle when he joined Palmeiras, the boss added: “I did not think about it. I thought Palmeiras would be much higher than it is.”
The Sao Paulo-based team, who have won eight Brasileirao championships, have 14 points from 13 games in the Serie A table, four points above the relegation places. They next take on Atletico Mineiro in Belo Horizonte on Sunday evening.
