The case surrounding former Palmeiras playmaker Jorge Valdivia has taken another strange turn after his father announced that the Chilean had not been in touch with his family for two weeks.

A move to the Middle East with Al Fujairah appears to have collapsed on financial grounds and now it has emerged that Valdivia has not reported to anyone after a trip to the USA for post-World Cup recuperation.

Luis Valdivia told the Chilean press: “I sent an email to Palmeiras to ask about him, because we do not know where he is and no one has any information about his whereabouts.”

“Me, the mother and the whole family are concerned. Palmeiras says the same: that they do not know anything and are awaiting his return.”

Valdivia is contracted to Palmeiras until 2015 but had allegedly just signed a deal to move to Fujairah a few weeks back. He was in the country to sign a deal back on July 18 but left before it was confirmed.
