New Corinthians midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro has expressed his delight at joining the club from Botafogo, claiming that it is a step up for him after leaving the Rio de Janeiro side.

Uruguay international Lodeiro, 25, signed a deal with Corinthians at the end of May in a transfer worth £1.5 million, and the player told reporters at a press conference yesterday: “I’ve finally arrived. Time to do my part to show that I want to play and win many titles here.”

“I’ll try to do the best in every game. My feature is to not lose the ball.”

“It is a very important stage in my career to come to a big team like Corinthians. I want to play and do my best here. I’ve been through a tough time but that’s in the past.”

After an extended break following the World Cup, Lodeiro is now in the frame to make his Corinthians debut in Sunday’s league game away at Coritiba.
