World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro has raised doubts about the way in which Barcelona are going to play this season, when they will have to incorporate the attacking triumvirate of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar into their tactics.

The much-lauded strikeforce is one that will certainly offer great entertainment going forward, but Italian legend Cannavaro has suggested that the rest of the team will suffer as a result of their forwards.

He told Goal: “This is modern football we are talking about- who is going to cover them in midfield?”

“Real Madrid have to be favourites to win La Liga.”

Cannavaro won the Spanish league twice between 2006 and 2009 with Real, following Italy’s fourth World Cup triumph in Germany in 2006.

Barca’s Suarez has recently joined the club but is banned from all football-related activity four four months for, ironically, biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini in their World Cup Group D fixture earlier in the summer.
