Elche have confirmed the signing of forward Jonathas from Serie B side Pescara.

The Franjiverdes announced the deal on their official Twitter account on Tuesday, with the Brazilian agreeing to a two-year loan spell, according to transfermarkt.

Elche manager Fran Escribá will hope Jonathas can help his side score more goals. Last season, they managed just 30 in 38 La Liga matches, while top scorer Richmond Boakye, who got six, has returned to owners Juventus and is now on loan at Atalanta.

Jonathas came to prominence last term with 15 goals in 37 appearances, whilst on loan at Latina. Prior to that, his best return came in the 2011/12 campaign, when he netted 17 times for Brescia.

That strike rate earned him a move to current owners Pescara, who had been promoted to Serie A, in July 2012, but he managed just one goal and was loaned to Torino, where he scored twice.

Jonathas initially moved to Europe in September 2008, when AZ signed him from Cruzeiro. The now 25 year-old struggled to make a big impression in the Netherlands, but still got seven goals in 23 appearances, before Brescia bought him in January 2011.
