David Luiz could be dropped by new Brazil boss Dunga for their next friendly fixtures in order to give an opportunity to younger players, in a bid to ready them for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro two years from now.

According to reports in Folha de S. Paulo, Dunga may want to work in tandem with U-23 boss Alexandre Gallo by naming Marquinhos and Doria as his central defensive pairing for the September friendlies with Ecuador and Colombia in Florida and New Jersey.

And PSG defender Luiz could miss out, despite the fact that the move would in all probability only last for those two games.

The 27 year-old has had to withstand heavy criticism for his captaining display against Germany in the 7-1 World Cup semi final mauling, a match in which he led Brazil to a new low in the absence of suspended skipper Thiago Silva.

PSG’s Marquinhos and Doria of Botafogo have each represented Brazil on one occasion already.
