Chelsea manager José Mourinho has praised new Brazilian signing Filipe Luís and believes he will give the Blues great stability during the 2014/15 campaign.
The left-back moved to west London from Atlético Madrid recently and the Portuguese head coach has explained why it was so important to sign a left-back.
Mourinho was talking to AS about his options ahead of the Premier League season, Football Espana quoted the Chelsea boss.
“After the signing Cesc Fàbregas, we needed a good left-back,” Mourinho explained.
“I think Filipe will give us a lot of stability and new alternatives, since I can play César Azpilicueta at right-back and move Branislav Ivanović to his central position.
“That was our goal and all I needed.”
After featuring in two pre-season games already for Chelsea, it seems Filipe Luís has certainly made a good impression on his new boss and he’ll hope to make the left-back position his own.
