Forwards Luan and Wanderley excited to be working with Head Coach Paulo Bonamigo at Sharjah SCLuan of Palmeiras celebrates after scoring against Millonarios during their Copa Sudamericana match on 2 October, 2012
New signings Luan and Wanderley are excited to be working under Head Coach Paulo Bonamigo at Sharjah SC.
The duo - both forwards - were signed from Palmeiras and Al-Arabi respectively earlier this month and complete The White Bees foreign player quota.
Captain Fellype Gabriel is the other non-United Arab Emirates born player, while Bonamigo and Maurício Ramos, who can be registered because he has a Palestinian passport, ensures there is a strong Brazilian influence at the club next season.
For Luan, the transition from Brazil to the UAE will be made with greater ease due to the number of his countrymen working at Sharjah SC.
“The presence of the technical staff and four players, all of whom are from Brazil, will make it easier to settle into the team,” he said, as reported by The National. “Also, I have already played with Ramos at Palmeiras and so have a strong relationship with him.”
Wanderley’s big draw was the chance to be coached by Bonamigo. The 25 year-old was previously managed by the tactician at Ponte Preta and is pleased to work with him once more.
“I’ve already played with Bonamigo in Brazil, and I am happy to join Sharjah,” he added. “During my time in Qatar, I was following the UAE league and was impressed.
“I wish to offer added quality to the team and to repay the club’s faith in me.”
Bonamigo will hope his new recruits will help Sharjah SC improve on their 7th place finish in the 2013–14 Arabian Gulf League. The new season starts on 15 September.
