Last night saw the Porto class of 2004 held to an entertaining 4-4 draw by the Barcelona class of 2006 in a testimonial match for the Brazilian-born Portuguese midfielder Deco.
Ronaldinho was invited to feature in Friday’s friendly at the Dragão Stadium in Porto alongside former Barca team-mates including Lionel Messi, Samuel Eto’o, Xavi and Carles Puyol, but failed to make the game after missing his flight from Brazil, reports Xinhua.
The 34-year-old, however, took to Twitter to congratulate his former team-mate.
“One of the most fantastic players I played with. Congratulations for your victorious career, you deserve it,” he wrote.
Deco was a UEFA Champions League winner with both Porto and Barcelona and scored a goal for each on Friday, including a sumptuous lobbed volley in the dying minutes to complete the scoring.
