Atlético-MG director of football Eduardo Maluf has spoken of his surprise that Ronaldinho did not show up for Deco’s farewell game as expected and has given the 34-year-old until Tuesday to explain his absence.
Ronaldinho had already agreed with his club that he would miss this weekend’s game against Sport Recife to take part in Deco’s farewell game, in Portugal on Friday night.
According to Lancenet!, the former AC Milan and Barcelona man missed his flight to Porto and is still stuck in an unknown location.
On Friday afternoon, Maluf admitted that the club is yet to search for Ronaldinho or his brother and agent Assis.
“Here at Atlético we don’t call players. They know the commitment that they have to the club. Our position is firm and we will give Ronaldinho an opportunity to explain. He could call me now or Assis could call me now to justify the situation or he could be punished.”
“I will give him the right to explain. On Tuesday we will talk about it here. We don’t cover up for any player,” explained Maluf.
