Brazil midfielder Lucas Leiva pleased to play first 90 minutes of season for Liverpool
Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva was pleased to play his first 90 minutes of the season as Liverpool lost 1-0 to Italian side Roma at Fenway Park, Boston.
Lucas was disappointed that the Reds were unable to achieve a better result and was especially frustrated with the manner in which Brendan Rodgers side lost.
Liverpool conceded in the last minute and the Brazilian wished they could have given the fans more.
He told the official club website about the match, Lucas said: "It's always disappointing when you lose a game, especially the way we lost in the last minute.
“We would have liked to have given a better result to the fans but it wasn't possible."
Lucas was pleased to play his first 90 minutes of the season, though, and acknowledged that pre-season is mainly about getting fit for when the real action starts.
The Liverpool ace added: "It's a first 90 minutes and I felt okay.
“Of course, I'm still on my way to full fitness but that's the main thing of pre-season - to be fit and ready for the start of the season.”
