Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva discusses playing at Fenway Park
Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has revealed how much of an honour it is to play at such a historic ground like Fenway Park.
The Premier League side are currently in the United States going through their paces for pre-season and played Italian side Roma on Wednesday night at Fenway Park, Boston.
The Brazilian played the whole match but was unable to prevent the Reds losing 1-0 but nevertheless, he was pleased to play at such a historic stadium.
Lucas told the official club website about the experience, he said: "It's always great to play in a great stadium.
“Especially at Fenway Park in front of the fantastic supporters and we hope we can get some better results in the next few friendlies.”
The Brazilian midfielder went on to explain how it was a different experience for him this time, compared to the previous meeting between Liverpool and Roma in pre-season friendly.
The two clubs played at Fenway Park two years ago but Lucas was just returning from injury at the time.
He explained: "We played here two years ago against Roma but actually, it was a different situation for me as I was coming back from surgery."
