Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Douglas Costa has insisted he isn’t looking to force a move away from the club after failing to return to Ukraine.

The Brazilian and five other South American players have refused to travel with their team mates to Ukraine because of the current conflict in the country.

The 23-year-old posted several messages on his Instagram page, implying that he and his team mates feel like they are risking their lives if they return to Ukraine.

Guardian quoted the Brazilian, Costa said: “We all run a deadly risk if we are in the region.

“I like the club, the people, the city, but I’m afraid.

“We want to stay at the club, but we must have risk-free working conditions.”

With various clubs ready to sign the Brazilian midfielder, maybe Costa won’t be returning to Ukraine after all.
