Roma are continuing to push for São Paulo defender Rafael Tolói, according to reports.

Respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that negotiations are continuing between various club representatives, with a definitive outcome expected later today.

Tolói spent the final five months of the 2013/14 Serie A season on loan with Roma. He made just four starts and one substitute appearance, but impressed sufficiently for Head Coach Rudi Garcia to pursue a permanent deal.

Roma’s initial interest in the 23 year-old cooled due to São Paulo’s valuation, but after links with other options such as Lille’s Marko Baša failed to yield a positive outcome, they returned for Tolói.

The Glória d’Oeste native joined São Paulo from Goiás in July 2012 and made 15 appearances to help The Tricolor to a 9th placed finish in the 2013 Brasileirão.

Since returning to São Paulo from Roma, Tolói is yet to be used by Head Coach Muricy Ramalho, who has preferred Antônio Carlos and either Lucão or Rodrigo Caio as his starting centre-backs.
