Al-Wasl have completed the signing of midfielder Fábio Lima from Atlético Goianiense.

The 21 year-old – full name Fábio Virginio de Lima – has agreed a two year loan deal with the UAE Arabian Gulf League side.

Fábio Lima is the second Brazilian to join Al-Wasl during pre-season after Atlético Mineiro forward Neto Berola, who is also on loan.

Both players were selected by Head Coach Jorginho, but the 1994 FIFA World Cup winner is likely to return to work as an assistant to Dunga – he previously held the role between 2006 and 2010 – if the tactician reprises his role as Brazil manager.

Despite the speculation surrounding Jorginho, team manager Majed Obaidallah remains confident that Fábio Lima will prove to be a successful acquisition.

“Fábio is a quality playmaker, which we needed, the coach wanted him and he was a very good price,” he said, as reported by the The National. “Jorginho gave us the name, we checked him and were also convinced by him. He’s fast, has a good shot and is strong at assisting goals. We’re very happy to have him.”

Fábio Lima’s arrival will push out midfielders Edson Puch and Emmanuel Culio, who are not wanted as part of Al-Wasl’s four foreign player quota.

With Fábio Lima, Neto Berola and former Milan forward Ricardo Oliveira, The Cheetahs have room for one more foreign player, though Oliveira may yet depart.
