Atlético Paranaense head coach Doriva heaped praise on Deivid after watching his side defeat Criciuma 2-0 in the Brasileirão.
Second half goals from Marcelo and Douglas Coutinho gave Hurricane victory but after the game he praised his 25-year-old defensive midfielder.
Lancenet quoted the head coach, he said: “The athletes have donated much. Deivid played his first game for me.
“He is a player who sacrifices himself and giving support. I congratulate the entire team, and especially Deivid.
“The athletes are giving much for me. This is the start of our championship, we must sacrifice the physical part but they did this brilliantly.
“It is a very friendly team on the field. This is the way I want it to be, and the trend is evolving off the field.”
Atlético Paranaense have made a good start to life under new head coach Doriva as the former Middlesborough player has won his opening two matches of his reign.
He’ll hope for more success against Fluminense next weekend.
