Report: Genoa set to sign defender Edenílson on loan from UdineseNeymar (L) of Santos challenges Edenílson of Corinthians during their São Paulo state final match in Santos on May 19, 2013
Genoa are set to sign defender Edenílson on loan from Serie A rivals Udinese, according to reports.
Respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims the deal, which will not include an option for a permanent transfer, is close to completion and notes that Edenílson could even join up with the Genoa squad at their training retreat in Neustift later day.
The 24 year-old right full-back, who can also play in midfield, completed his switch to Udinese from Corinthians on 1 July for a reported fee of £1.76 million.
The move brought to an end a successful three year spell at the São Paulo based club, where he was part of a side that won the 2011 Brasileirão, 2012 Copa Libertadores, 2012 FIFA Club World Cup, 2013 Campeonato Paulista and 2013 Recopa Sudamericana. In his final Brasileirão with Corinthians, he made 36 appearances to help the Timão to a disappointing 10th place finish.
Edenílson is one of two signings Udinese are expected to make from Corinthians during the summer transfer window. Midfielder Guilherme, who has scored one goal in five appearances in the 2014 Brasileirão, is reportedly also a target.
