Cruzeiro head coach Marcelo Oliveira has heaped praise on young playmaker Ricardo Goulart after the 23-year-old scored in the 3-1 win against Vitória yesterday evening.

Raposa’s other goals came via an own goal and though Everton Ribeiro and the three points kept them top of the Brasileirão table.

Goulart’s strike was his sixth in the Brasileirão campaign and Oliveira was full of praise for his attacker.

He told Lancenet: “Goulart comes with a spectacular fashion. He is a strong player.

“He comes to the area and still makes goals. Arriving late is the best time for Goulart. I expect him to continue scoring because it has helped us a lot.”

Goulart’s goals have been vital to Cruzeiro this season, contributing 29% of their overall tally in the Brasileirão this season.

The playmaker spoke to Lancenet himself after the Vitória win and admitted the break the team took in the United States whilst the World Cup was on has benefited them greatly.

Goulart said: “We did a great job out there (in the United States). Let’s give it a sequence, because the championship is long and the opponents are very skilled.

“We came back better. We knew it would not be easy. The Victoria is a very skilled team.

“The ball did not go right in the first half. Our team returned attentive after the break and, thank God, we got the three points.”
