Atlético Madrid defender Filipe Luís is excited ahead of his proposed move to Premier League club Chelsea and is looking forward to living in a city he loves.

The Brazilian can’t wait to move to London and also link up with his new team mates as he can see they have a close bond with each other.

The 28-year-old spoke to AS ahead of his move, with Football Espana quoting him, he went on to say: "I’ve always liked Chelsea.

"I see a lot of the Premier League, [London] is a city I love and it’s a club in which it shows that people are close.

"When we played against Chelsea in the Champions League I felt good on their pitch and when the offer came I thought it was the ideal team to play in England."

Filipe Luís has admitted that he never imagined he would leave Atlético Madrid but once the offer came in from the west London club, he couldn’t turn it down.

He added: "The club and I sat down to talk about my future. I never thought about leaving Atlético…the decision came with the offer from Chelsea.

"A footballer’s career is short and I wanted to finish it spectacularly. I want my career to be complete. I thank that the club have helped me."
