Atlético Madrid defender Filipe Luís has praised Diego Simeone and admitted the Argentine is more than just a coach to him.
It was confirmed yesterday that the Brazilian would be moving to Stamford Bridge, after Chelsea agreed a fee with Atlético for the 28-year-old.
Personal terms and other little details are still to be confirmed but Filipe Luís will be leaving the La Liga champions and Simeone shortly.
Speaking to AS, the Brazilian praised Simeone and thanked the Atlético boss for everything he has done.
"Simeone is more than a coach. We’re very close, like a father," Filipe Luís admitted.
"I sat with him and told him how I felt. It hurts me to leave but he understood that it was something stuck in my head and I didn’t want to backtrack.
"I have only words of affection because this week has been training as one. I haven’t felt separated and I thank [Simeone] for all you have done for me."
