Napoli hoping to use player swap deal to secure signature of Tottenham Hotspur’s SandroThe Brazilian has endured a frustrating 12 months
Napoli will attempt to use midfielder Valon Behrami as bait to secure the signing of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro.
The Italian club have been after the Brazilian since he started to become unsettled at White Hart Lane under previous head coach Tim Sherwood.
Sherwood has since departed the club and though Mauricio Pochettino isn’t said to be against the idea of keeping the 25-year-old, it is widely felt that Sandro could benefit from a change of scenery.
The Evening Standard report that Napoli boss Rafael Benitez has made Sandro his “principal target” for the rest of the summer transfer window.
Sources in Italy suggest the Serie A club are willing to allow Behrami to move to the Premier League club if it means they can secure Sandro’s signing.
Tottenham Hotspur bosses view the Brazilian highly but are open to listening to offers for players if it means Pochettino can make the signings he wants.
The new head coach is likely to stay to the Spurs board that he has few players capable of performing the holding role to Sandro’s level, therefore if the Brazilian departs a replacement will need to be bought.
The 25-year-old hasn’t travelled with the Tottenham squad for their pre-season tour of United States and Canada due to a virus but if these reports are anything to go by, the Brazilian may be exiting White Hart Lane this summer.
