Vasco da Gama striker Kleber has revealed his joy at scoring for the first time for the Rio de Janeiro side, after moving there on loan from parent club Gremio.

In a 4-1 win over Santa Cruz, Kleber scored the third from the penalty spot and told reporters after the match: “Since I got here the fans have been treating me very well, I feel the warmth of the Vasco fans.”

“Making the first goal in the shirt of Vasco was a great emotion. We know how important it it would be to go back to Serie A, and we need to achive this goal.”

Vasco dropped out of the top flight last season and are intent on making a swift recovery back to the top division at the first time of asking.

After their win yesterday, the club sit on 17 points after 11 games, six behind current league leaders Joinville. They have only lost one game so far, but have drawn five of their matches and next play America RN on Saturday.
