Dilma Rousseff believes that Brazil succeeded in its running of this summer’s tournament.
Her government has been heavily criticised for overspending on the World Cup stadiums and the delays to a large number of construction projects associated with the competition.
President Rousseff told Al Jazeera: “The country not only exceeded specific points, such as the full operation of airports, but also the expectations of those who — promoted a negative campaign against the World Cup.”
