Brazil legend Ronaldo believes the host nation must finish third in the 2014 World Cup to make up for their devastating semi-final defeat.

Germany crushed Luiz Felipe Scolari’s team 7-1 on Tuesday night, scoring five goals in the first half – including four in an incredible six-minute spell.

Home fans are still coming to terms with the defeat but they will need to rouse themselves for Saturday’s 3rd/4th place play-off match against the Netherlands.

The Brazil players are certainly getting themselves ready for that meeting and Ronaldo believes it is a must win clash for his nation to restore some pride.

Goal.com quoted the 2002 World Cup winner after he spoke to A Bola, he said: “The Selecao paid a very high price for their mistakes and now they have an obligation to claim third place.”

Ronaldo will be hoping his country can win on Saturday and at least end this World Cup on a successful note.
