Julio Cesar – 5 – Could do little with any of the seven goals he conceded.
Maicon – 3 – Got forward with enthusiasm, but was too cavalier and left space in behind.
David Luiz – 2 – Showed a complete lack of positional discipline and total naivety throughout the contest. The defender was constantly caught out of position and got involved in needless altercations with both Thomas Muller and Miroslav Klose.
Dante – 4.5 – Often the only defender back for Brazil, he was also poor when called upon.
Marcelo – 3 – Like Maicon, too cavalier.
Luiz Gustavo – 4.5 – Completely over-run in midfield. He did his best, but couldn’t stem the tide.
Fernandinho – 3 – Lacked sharpness and was unsurprisingly substituted at half-time.
Oscar – 5 – Enthusiastic, kept working and got the goal, but struggled to make a telling impact.
Bernard – 5 – A willing runner, but couldn’t get into the game.
Hulk – 3.5 – Made little impact and was substituted at half-time.
Fred – 3.5 – Didn’t get the service he needed and was booed by the crowd in the second half. A tournament to forget for the big centre-forward.
Substitutes
Paulinho – 5 – Worked hard and was only denied a goal by the outstanding Manuel Neuer.
Ramires – 5 – Brought energy and bit more shape to the midfield
Willian – 4.5 – Struggled to impact
