Former Brazil striker Romario says he remains convinced that Germany will win the World Cup after he tipped the Europeans to do so last year.

However, the man who scored 55 goals for Selecao has repeated his desire that his country triumphs when the two sides meet in Tuesday’s Semi Final in Belo Horizonte.

Speaking to the Times of India, Romario said: “I stick to what I said last year. But I want Brazil to beat the Germans, who are a very tough team, in the semi-finals and go on to lift the trophy again.”

“It is an incredible feeling. It has become that much more difficult without Tiago Silva and Neymar. This Brazilian team isn’t as great as those in the past, but they still have it in them to lift the title at home.”

Tuesday’s game kicks off at 2100 BST, with the winners set to face either Argentina or Holland in the Final at the Maracana on July 13.
