A poll announced by data-gathering company Datafolha has, perhaps unsurprisingly, suggested that striker Fred is the least loved member of Brazil’s 2014 World Cup squad.

The poll, which was released yesterday and took into account the views of over 3000 fans, asked its participants to list their favourite and most disliked player in head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari’s squad- and Fred came out on top in the former category with 21%.

That was a whole 14% ahead of second-placed Hulk and a further three more than dropped right back Daniel Alves.

The poll also claims that injured striker Neymar is the fans’ favourite, with the Barcelona man grabbing a huge 56% of votes, ahead of Julio Cesar in second (10%).

Unfortunately for Brazil, it is Neymar and not Fred who will miss the remainder of the tournament, with the hosts’ next step to a sixth world title coming in this Tuesday evening’s Semi Final against Germany in Belo Horizonte.
