Brazil’s preparation for their quarter-final tie against Colombia has been hit with tragedy after it was revealed that a overpass in Belo Horizonte collapsed on Thursday leaving two people dead.

22 people were injured as the unfinished overpass collapsed to show why so many fans and Brazilians are angry with the government over the World Cup and the rush that has caused so much construction to be patched together when not properly finished.

Eurosport.com report one of the victims was a female driver, while two trucks and another car were trapped underneath the overpass.

The bridge is situated around two miles from the Mineirao Stadium and collapsed at a time when the road was busy.

At the scene, bank worker Leandro Brito told reporters: “This is the incompetence of our authorities and our businesses.

“Because of the World Cup they sped everything up to finish faster. That’s why this tragedy has happened. They are not making things properly. Everyone is angry.”

The anger from Brazilians is completely understandable and the national team will be doing their upmost tonight in their quarter-final clash against Colombia to help raise spirits in Brazil.
