Brazil captain Thiago Silva: I am a very emotional player

Brazil captain Thiago Silva has defended the emotion with which his team sing the national anthem before World Cup games, saying that it is a natural part of match preparation and helps them to deliver their all on the pitch.

The PSG defender, 29, told reporters ahead of this evening's Quarter Final with Colombia that "we are good psychologically."

"I don't think the emotion makes anything more difficult. I have overcome difficult moments. I had tuberculosis and had my life at risk, but I am a champion on and off the pitch and I show maturity and respect."

"I just need to think about my job. This is the way I am, I am very emotional and this is a very natural thing. This doesn't affect me at any time on the pitch."

Brazil's quest for a sixth world crown sees them play their continental neighbours Colombia in Fortaleza this evening at 2100 BST, and you can keep up to date with all the action here at Sambafoot throughout the proceedings.
