Brazil forward Hulk has revealed his anger at having his goal disallowed against Chile on Saturday but hailed the strength of the Seleção team.

The 27-year-old explained how it was his mistake that gave Chile the opportunity to get back into the game after David Luiz’s goal.

But Hulk was delighted that Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side found a way to win, Goal.com quoted the forward after he spoke to Rede Globo.

“It was a great match," Hulk said. “We knew how good Chile are.

“But we lost concentration and I made a mistake. It was our only mistake and they ended up scoring a goal.

“But then, there was my goal too, when the ball came to my chest but it wasn"t given. To me, it was clean. I controlled the ball on my chest and shoulder.

“I saw the ball go in but he didn"t give it and I initially thought [that the linesman] had given offside."

Hulk believes it was important that Brazil showed the strength to earn the shoot out win and was thankful for the heroics of goalkeeper Júlio César, especially after the Zenit St Petersburg ace had failed to score from the spot himself.

He added: “The important thing is really that we still made it [through]. In times like this we see the strength of the group; how much we support each other.

“We"re together, we didn"t let our heads drop. Thank God Júlio [César] made all those wonderful saves!"
