Thiago Silva has acknowledged how close Brazil are to achieving their dream of winning the World Cup on home soil after their thrilling penalty shoot-out win yesterday.

The PSG and Brazil skipper told Daily Mirror that it will only get harder for the host nation but was delighted to progress past Chile 3-2 on penalties.

Silva said: “We suffered, we know Chile would push us back and they deserve credit.

“We know they are very mobile and that made it hard for me and David (Luiz), especially him with his sore back.”

The defender went on to praise his fellow central back, especially with Luiz suffering from back troubles.

Silva added: “Luiz was a warrior today, and that shows the strength and the unity we have.

“It is going to get harder. We have three games to realize our dreams and the dreams of Brazilians.”

The Brazil skipper and his team mate will now starting focusing and preparing for their quarter final clash against Colombia on Friday evening.
