Thiago Silva hails Brazil hero Júlio CésarThe QPR keeper was the man of the moment
Brazil captain Thiago Silva praised Júlio César following the heroics of the Queens Park Rangers keeper on Saturday in the round of 16 World Cup match.
The host nation edged out Chile 3-2 on penalties after drawing 1-1 with them in normal and extra time.
Júlio César saved two penalties before Gonzalo Jara hit his decisive spot kick against the post to spark jubilant scenes from Luiz Felipe Scolari’s men.
Silva was quoted by the Daily Mirror after the match and the PSG ace hailed the win and his goalkeeper.
"Before the penalties Júlio said, hit them with confidence and I’ll stop three," the Brazil skipper said.
"It was preordained. Chile were a great team but we found strength. The most important thing is that the group is united, independent of any mistakes."
Silva will now hope the Brazil victory can inspire them onto winning the World Cup, especially with their dreams so close to shattering.
With Colombia up next on Friday, Brazil continue on their quest for World Cup number six.
