Bahia President Fernando Schmitt is in Italy to negotiate a deal for Parma forward Amauri, according to reports.

Respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims Schmitt will propose a three year deal to Amauri, who scored eight goals in 31 Serie A appearances this season.

Whether the 34 year-old would be interested in leaving Parma however, remains to be seen. He has had three different spells with the Ducali throughout his career and was a protagonist as they finished the campaign in a UEFA Europa League berth, which has subsequently been taken away from them due to a late tax payment.

Despite being born in Brazil, Amauri has spent 14 seasons in Europe. Aside from a year at Santa Catarina Clube and half a season with Bellinzona, his whole career has been played across various spells at nine different Italian clubs, while he’s also represented the national team in a 2010 friendly against Ivory Coast.

Bahia’s reported interest in Amauri is understandable given their mixed start to the 2014 Brasileirão. Marquinhos Santos’ side are currently in 15th place and have managed just two wins and seven goals in nine matches. Their top scorer is midfielder Talisca, who has netted twice in nine starts.
